The Chronology of Frank's Tattoos


1. Jack-O-Lantern Pumpkin on the upperback/spine area.
Meaning: presents his birthdate. | Frank: 'I did it because my birthday is on Halloween. It's my favorite holiday.'
When? - 18th birthday [1999] on Halloween.

Meaning: important qualities. | Frank: "I want to surround myself with people who have these 3 qualities." & "I did it because that's the kind of person I want to be in my life."

3. 'I wish I were a ghost' in red around the right wrist.
Meaning: Line from one of the Pencey Prep Lyrics.

4. Flame, underlined with 'HOPE' placed over the heart area.
Meaning: Simply, the flame of hope.
When? - 2000/2001 but not sure.

5. Scorpion at the right side of his neck.
Meaning: His zodiac sign and the knowledge he couldn't work in an average job afterwards. The band helped paying for it. | Frank: "It was a way of me forcing myself to have this special job. I knew very well when I was doing it I was closing certain doors." & "We were at this venue soundchecking. I fell asleep and had a dream: I didn't ever wanted a come-back plan. I didn't want to be able to go back home. We were working so hard and what was really rough and it looked like it might not happen for us. So I thought I might have to go back home and get a job but I didn't want to give myself that option, so I woke up and decided to get a tattoo on my neck. I wanted a scorpio since I am a Scorpio. I did it in a way so no collar can cover it. It was my first visible tattoo."

Meaning: Frank: "They are my favorite band and they made me want to start playing guitar. The band taught me that you don't have to be a guitar virtuoso to play. Just get on and do it. It was the first band I picked up on and felt free."

Meaning: Frank: "She almost a challenge to faith. It's a band image. We use a lot of religious imagery and I think it's a challenge to faith in general, believing in things you can't see, hoping that there'll be something out there but there probably is not."

Meaning: Usually: Brand of a PIMP, like posing (to be seen in other bands). In Frank's case, I don't know.

Meaning: He got the tattoo together with 2 other friends to never forget where they come from, keep 'em grounded & as a statement for their friendship will never die. They all got the tattoo when they were in different bands.

Meaning: Frank: "I got the tattoo to remember the feeling of the end that I was pretty okay with it. I found out that I wasn't afraid of death." (-> At the GOY video shoot, when the whole band was dressed as soldiers the boat they were sitting in began to sink rather quickly. The whole band explained later they felt as if they'd be about to die now. Luckily and obviously they were saved.)

I can't take this anymore!

I dreamed about going to a MCR concert seven times!!!

I'm going crazy...

I need to see MCR live!

I didn't go to the first MCR concert in Portugal :(

I love them so much...

I'm almost crying.. :(    It's not fair!

That's my dream... I hope it comes true.
